Natalya Zaloznaya

You plucked the violin like
it was heavy
and you were angry
but did not know it was heavy.
it is heavy, dear,
and I can never remember my dreams anymore

but I know I have them.
I wake up and fall back asleep
every time I close my eyes again.
I am dreaming in the Alaska time zone
and I didn't even know that was what it was called
but I am diagnosing myself in bed these days.
These mornings hide behind the blankets
on my windows. These windows are not even my own.
